THE annual competition between
Bury and Colchester took place, when eight
members from each club met in Bury for a day of
golf croquet singles matches.
Brian Cash was Bury’s top player,
winning all his games, as did Shirley Chrispin
and Mollie Crawford, who played a half-day each.
Ann Sweeney and Chris Howell dropped one game,
and Jennifer Banks had an exceptionally good
day, losing just two games on the 13th hoop.
Edme Robinette, Jan Oldfield and
Sally Curry all won games, and the result of the
day was a 27-13 win for Bury
Bury players were in action at
Ipswich Croquet Club, for a level play
competition. The first semi-final was played
between Mike Percival and Brian Cash, both of
Bury with Mike beating Brian, 7-5.
In the second semi-final, Nick
Archer (Watford CC) beat Charles Blyth (Downham
CC),7-6.
In the final, Mike Percival’s
long, attacking shots were no match for Nick
Archer, Mike winning, 7-4.
In the play-off for third and
fourth places, Brian Cash beat Charles Blythe,
